Description

This course is designed for advanced laparoscopic General and Colorectal surgeons
who wish to explore hand access laparoscopic surgery (HALS) with the GelPort system
and Single Site GI Surgery with the GelPOINT® advanced access platform. The program
is limited to 12 participants to maximize the hands-on experience. The course covers
Single Site Cholecystectomy, Appendectomy, Bowel Resection and other solid organ
procedures. The HALS portion of the workshop will review approaches for left, sigmoid
and total colectomies.

GelPort Course Objectives
|
|
Learn how the GelPort system enables HALS.
- Identify indications for HALS, including as a laparoscopic alternative to open
conversion
- Review intestinal anatomy as it relates to HALS
- Cover oncologic principles of HALS for intestinal resection
- Investigate principles for both benign and malignant colon disease
- Apply HALS techniques for hemostasis, soft tissue dissection and anastomosis

Learn how the GelPOINT advanced access platform enables single site surgery.
Explore tools and techniques, including:
- Instrumentation
- Camera operation
- Trocar placement
- Anastomotic methods
